Stephen King 11/12/63 Time Travel Book about JFK’s Assassination Tops New York Times Best-Seller List
Stephen King delves into the realm of time travel with his latest book 11/22/63. Raising the age old hot chestnut of time travel and whether it would be possible or desirable to change the course of history. King situates his time travel dilemma around the assassination of JFK (John Fitzgerald Kennedy for those who don’t know what they were doing at the time and probably the biggest single event since the end of the 2nd World War). Jake Epping is a 35 year-old high school teacher who learns that Al, who runs the local diner, has a portal to 1958. (Al must be an altruist or a nut, as any sane person who had a portal back to 1958 would have used it to become a millionaire many times over and would therefore not be running a diner – but I digress). Al enlists Jake on an insane mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So far it sounds like Back to the Future for politicos – maybe Stephen King is working on a trilogy?
The ideas and possibilities are infinite and knowing Stephen King infinitely fascinating
Listen to what Stephen King has to say about his book
One reviewer says :-
“Stephen King … needs to write like most of us need to breathe. ….. he started out as a genre writer tapping into the most primal fears of the American public. Over time he has developed into one of the most gifted writers of our time, a man whose memory of a past world is so clear and vivid that it’s nearly as frightening as the monsters in his books.
King has left behind the standard horror genre for many years now, some could even trace it back to just after he recovered from being hit by a car. Something shifted in him and his writing has never been better”
King apparently buys into the lone assassin and magic bullet theory, which many people will find incredible in itself, but it is all just fiction and a wander through a fiction writer’s imagination afer all.
