Stephen King delves into the realm of time travel with his latest book 11/22/63. Raising the age old hot chestnut of time travel and whether it would be possible or desirable to change the course of history. King situates his time travel dilemma around the assassination of JFK (John Fitzgerald Kennedy for those who don’t know what they were doing at the time and probably the biggest single event since the end of the 2nd World War). Jake Epping is a 35 year-old high school teacher who learns that Al, who runs the local diner, has a portal to 1958. (Al must be an altruist or a nut, as any sane person who had a portal back to 1958 would have used it to become a millionaire many times over and would therefore not be running a diner – but I digress). Al enlists Jake on an insane mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So far it sounds like Back to the Future for politicos – maybe Stephen King is working on a trilogy?
