Red Mist Patricia Cornwell’s Latest Book
The new Kay Scarpetta novel Red Mist by Patricia Cornwell the world’s no. 1 bestselling crime writer is available as both a Book and an Ebook.
Kay Scarpetta’s former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, was murdered six months earlier and she travels to the Georgia Women’s Prison, to see an inmate who has information on Fielding and but also on a string of killings. The murder of a family in Atlanta years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people in California and elsewhere seem unrelated. Scarpetta discovers connections that force her to conclude that what she thought ended with an attempt on her own life and Fielding’s death is just the beginning of something much more destructive: a web of conspiracy and potential terrorism on an international scale. And she is the only person who can stop it.

Kay Scarpetta novels go into great detail on forensics and Red Mist is no exception. The solutions are usually found in the forensic investigation of the murder, but Scarpetta does a great deal more field investigation and cross-examination of suspects than real medical examiners. The novels are in fact thought to have influenced the development of popular TV series on forensics, both fictional, such as CSI and documentaries.
Cornwell herself worked in a crime lab but not in an official forensics capacity.
