Christopher Paolini was born in Southern California in 1983 and wrote his first novel ‘Eragon’ at age 15. Eragon was published by Paolini’s father in 2001 and then sold by Christopher Paolini and his father as they toured the USA visiting schools to promote the book.
The book ended up being ‘discovered’ by New York publishing house Knopf in 2003, who immediately signed up Paolini and the rest as they say is history.
The book was an instant success, and to date, there are 49 foreign-language licenses for Eragon alone. The first three books in the series – Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr - have sold 25 million print copies worldwide and are now all available for the Kindle. Christopher Paolini has just finished the final book in the series – Inheritance - which was published on November 8, 2011 with a first printing of 2.5 million copies. So expect to see it on the best-seller lists in the run up to Christmas, as Christopher Paolini has a large fan base that started reading his books back in 2002, plus there are new kids coming on the scene every day !
