Romance Ebooks Best-Sellers for Amazon
Amazon, which has already stated that it is selling more ebooks than print books, has decided to expand its growing publishing empire with a new line of romance ebooks and print books, in a bid to obtain original content to distinguish its ebook and print book bookselling services.

Amazon’s new romance imprint for the Kindle will be called Montlake Romance and will be launched later this year with an original work, “The Other Guy’s Bride,” by Connie Brockway.
Jeff Belle of Amazon Publishing, said Amazon will eventually publish ebooks and books in other genres, such as mysteries, thrillers and science fiction.
“Romance is one of the biggest and fastest growing categories,” he said.
Amazon is of course not the only publisher of romance ebooks, one of its main rivals in this area is Harlequin which has a long tradition of publishing very popular high-quality romance books and has now branched out into romance ebooks. Mr. Belle is confident authors will sell more books as a result of Amazon’s new publishing arm Montlake Romance. Amazon is, however, not the only player in the ebook market, its Kindle electronic reader and store is facing strong competition from Apple in the form of its iPad and Barnes & Noble in the form of the Nook. E-readers that have recently increased their market share in sales of both devices and e-books.
Amazon launched its first line of books, AmazonEncore, with Cayla Kluver’s young-adult fantasy novel “Legacy.” Its AmazonEncore business takes hot ebooks, edits them and re-distributes them digitally and in print.
Amazon has also struck deals with publishers and authors such as RosettaBooks.
Barnes & Noble also has a long-established program of its own including Sterling Publishing, a market leader in how-to titles, and SparkNotes, a series of study guides.
Connie Brockway, a best-selling romance writer, said that Amazon approached her after she announced she would be exploring self-publishing. Her book and ebook “The Other Guy’s Bride,” can be pre-ordered on Amazon, at $9.49 for a paperback and $4.99 for the Kindle ebook.
