Amanda Hocking -Best-Selling Ebooks

Self-published author and best-selling ebook entrepreneur Amanda Hocking is a genuine Internet success story. After sending off manuscripts and receiving hundreds of rejections from traditional publishers for her young adult novels she decided to self-publish them in ebook form for the Kindle ebook reader on Amazon. The amazing success of her ebooks has turned her into a millionaire in less than two years ! Click here to see the details of all her ebooks – Amanda Hocking Ebooks

She has also signed a contract with a traditional publisher, except that this time they had to come knocking at HER door and there was a bidding war between four or five publishers for the rights to publish her novels! St Martin’s Press eventually paid over $2 million dollars.

She has so far published nine ebooks at prices ranging from $0.99 to $2.99 in ebook form.

She published her first two ebooks in April 2010, and slowly since then the sales have built up and she has now sold over 900,000 copies of nine different ebooks. She has also become something of a celebrity and has been interviewed by Elle magazine, Better TV, USA Today, and numerous local news/radio stations.

Her published ebooks include the My Blood Approves Series, the Trylle Trilogy and the Hollows. She has always wanted to be a writer, ever since early childhood and in addition to writing her books (which seem to be written at incredible speed as they only take two to three weeks to write) she is also an obsessive tweeter and blogger.

Before being able to live from her ebooks, she worked in homes for people with disabilities and wrote in her spare time. Initially she had to hang on to her ‘day job’ to pay the bills, but in May 2010 she sold 624 ebooks and made $362, which she thought was pretty good. In June she sold 4258 copies for a total of $3180 (about 3 times what she was making with the day job). In July she sold 3532 copies and made $6527 (I guess she increased the prices). Finally, in August 2010, she started making enough money from her ebooks to give up the day job.

You may be wondering just how an unknown author managed to have so many best-selling ebooks. The fact is she doesn’t know, she just wrote them and published them on Amazon, she says she did very little marketing, although they were reviewed at one point by a number of “book bloggers”.
